Waldemar Pabst 29 year old academic, right of reactionary As much as I would like to be optimistic that the current social order will soon crumble and give way to a return to patriarchy, traditionalism, and masculine virtues, I think that unfortunately the pendulum will continue to swing even further to the left before it starts to swing back. Sound prognostication is based on the ability to divest oneself from the matter at hand and deal with issues in an objective and impersonal manner. It also becomes increasingly difficult to accurately anticipate trends the further out one looks. Predictions about what life will be like years in the future are almost always comically wrong. Consequently, I constrain myself in this article to events that I think will come to pass in the near future. Here then are five predictions for what I think we will see in the United States in the next decade or two. There will be a large increase in the number of male-to-female M2F transsexuals. We will see a dramatic uptick in the number of males undergoing sexual reassignment surgery. Those who are young boys now will have grown up marinating in a culture that is openly anti-male.

Their explanation was lucid and reasonable. At this point I jumped in and commented: I feel like every single term in social justice terminology has a totally unobjectionable and obviously important meaning — and then is actually used a completely different way. Surely no one can object to criticizing people who do that?

We built voice modulation to mask gender in technical interviews. Posted by June 29th, In short, we made men sound like women and women sound like men and looked at how that affected their interview performance. The setup When an interviewer and an interviewee match on our platform, they meet in a collaborative coding environment with voice, text chat, and a whiteboard and jump right into a technical question. After every interview, interviewers rate interviewees on a few different dimensions.
Feedback form for interviewers As you can see, we ask the interviewer if they would advance their interviewee to the next round. We also ask about a few different aspects of interview performance using a scale. On our platform, a score of 3 or above is generally considered good. At that time, we had amassed over a thousand interviews with enough data to do some comparisons and were surprised to discover that women really were doing worse.
Specifically, men were getting advanced to the next round 1.

Create New A Big Name Fan BNF is someone who, while not officially associated with the company that produces a given work — say, for the purposes of this article, Star Wars — is still widely known in the Star Wars fan community, and possibly by the producers of Star Wars themselves. Maybe they created a Star Wars Fanfic or other amateur Derivative Work that is so well-done everyone in the fandom has seen it. Maybe they just got posted on YouTube waving a lightsaber around like a spastic monkey.
Regardless, everyone in the fandom now knows their name This can get a little weird for some BNFs, who often still think of themselves as"just another fan. It’s arguable where the line is between Big Name Fan and just plain fan is, of course. However, when they’re invited to speak at a Star Wars convention, or hired by Lucasfilm to continue what they were already doing for free, any doubt that they’ve become a Big Name Fan goes out the window.
The recognition is great, but remember that Celebrity Is Overrated: BNFs are easy targets, and are often singled out for torment by jealous fans. This may extend to their friends. Thankfully, the anonymity factor helps their life from getting too crazy:

There’s a general trend that in any serial work of a non-random medium, the further back in the series you go, the more familiar it is amongst the general populace.
A fan imitates Harry casting the Lumos spell Pottermania is an informal term first used around describing the craze Harry Potter fans have had over the series. A Bridal Guide featured two real weddings soon before the release of the final movie, which quickly spread through the fandom via Facebook , Twitter , and Tumblr. Rowling has an open relationship with her fan base, and since periodically hands out a"fan site award” on her official web site. The first was Godric’s Hollow; for some time however, the site’s domain name was occupied by advertisers and its content was lost and t is no further record on Rowling’s site that Godric’s Hollow ever received the award, althoin the website came back online again albeit with a lot of content missing.
The next site was the Harry Potter Lexicon , an online encyclopedia Rowling has admitted to visiting while writing away from home rather than buying a copy of her books in a store. She called it “for the dangerously obsessive; my natural home. Rowling wrote when giving the award, “It’s high time I paid homage to the mighty MuggleNet,” and listed all the features she loved, including “the pretty-much-exhaustive information on all books and films.
In Rowling’s words, “it is about the worst kept secret on this website that I am a huge fan of The Leaky Cauldron,” which she calls a “wonderfully well designed mine of accurate information on all things Harry Potter. Rowling recognized the insightful editorials as well as praised the site for its young and dedicated staff. Rowling called the project “extraordinary” and “most inspirational”, and paralleled its mission to “the values for which Dumbledore’s Army fought in the books”.
The unsuccessful attempt eventually led to their inviting the webmasters of the top sites to premieres of the films and tours of the film sets, because of their close connection with the fans. Both podcasts won these respective categories.
